New Green Day record is so good. Anybody else listening to this? Been in my heavy rotation since it came out a couple months ago…

Some albums just sound “right” on cassette, imo. Not necessarily better than digital streaming. But, that old school analog signal does something to my lizard brain.

How many songs did these guys do that inspired Motley Crüe, G’n’r etc? Their mainstream crossover success was 100% the catalyst for the major record labels going on a signing spree up and down the sunset strip. So many bands got signed in the wake of Metal Health. And a lot of the already established bands broke through to bigger audiences. Of course, the advent of MTV at the same time can’t be overlooked as a contributing factor. But, I agree that Metal Health was kind of “ground zero” for the wave of hair bands that would go on to define the 80’s metal scene, especially in L.A. Hugely influential. It’s a shame they were never able to replicate the success of that album. My top ten favorite 80’s metal albums (in no particular order): 1. Mötley Crüe - Theatre of Pain 2. Twisted Sister - Stay Hungry 3. Ozzy - Blizzard of Ozz 4. Cinderella - Night Songs 5. WASP - self-titled debut 6. Quiet Riot - Metal Health 7. Iron Maiden - Somewhere In Time 8. Judas Priest - Point of Entry 9. Ratt - Out of the Cellar 10. Metallica - Master of PuppetsThose ten albums would be a killer soundtrack to a cross-country road trip. I’d love to hear y’all’s top ten 80’s metal albums!
