Last time the body will be on the frame for some time. Need to loosen the radiator so I can get the hood off tonight and she’s going to be separated for the first time in 90 years. Damage was waaaaaaay worse than I thought. The wood stringer on the right side is basically eaten completely away. As well as the cross section behind the rumble seat and a bunch of other places. Grabbed 40’ of 1” square tubing at lunch so I can start bracing to get it up and out and start gutting the wood and making my templates for the steel. I’ll post some pics once it’s off and show just how fucked this thing really is.

Started bracing but don’t have enough throw away tubing to finish today. Everything had been mitered and notched but 8’ short of finishing until Monday.

At least you’re honest. 🤣 the beginnings of the bracing. Like I said ran out of tubing and steel shop isn’t open on weekends. You know what this means right? If I have to do everything why not give it a hair cut as well. Nothing is easy on this. If this was a Ford it would’ve been done by now. Tapered A pillars, wood body, parallel leafs front and rear, yada, yada, yada…

The lines are at 3” but may go with 3 1/2”. Not to much of an issue getting everything to line up at either of those. Only 1/16” difference. I’ll have to do a photochop to get scale and see exactly what it’d look like. Finished the bracing on the bottom now just need to clean all the parts on the body, chamfer, and weld them. That’ll be another time though. I want to be around if something started smoldering so it doesn’t burn. Have plenty of welding blankets but still…

I’ll see what I’m going with after a photo chop. Aka mark out the cut lines, take pictures from a bunch of angles, print them out, cut them down and see which looks best. Anyway, fought with the steering column for a day but that stubborn bitch is out and the body would be off if my engine hoist didn’t loose all its oil over the years. Got oil a few minutes ago but to late to deal with that and try and get it strapped up and off. Hopefully tomorrow. I can see about the stance it’ll have with the wheel/tire combo I’m using. Front will be 1 1/2” taller than that but close enough to get the idea.

One fucking thing after another. This is just the easy part. Hoists working now but my floor jack took a crap on me. Tried fixing the ram and the stupid thing tried breaking my wrist when I was putting it back together. Worked going up but wouldn’t release so tried fucking with it and it blew up in my face. Nothing like a show in hydraulic fluid after a long day at work. So now I’m out some cask with a new jack and the body is free. Just need to roll everything to the other side of the garage tomorrow so I can roll the chassis out. If you look hard enough you can see it’s on some 2x4 A500. Oh. Here’s a better look at how bad the wood is in a lot of places.
